Joy Stealers and Joy Keepers

May 3rd, 2008 by maureenchandra

Joy Stealers:

1.  Works of the flesh

2.  Religious Legalism

3.  Complicating Simple Issues

4.  Excessive Reasoning

5.  Ungodly Anger

6.  Jealousy and Envy

7.  Habitual Discontentment

Joy Keepers:

1.  Be Led of the Spirit

2.  Be Free in Christ

3.  Be Uncomplicated

4.  Be Confident in God

5.  Be Quick to Forgive

6.  Be Outrageously Blessed

7.  Be Content

These are taken from Joyce Meyer’s book "Seven Things that Steal Your Joy".  She is the author of bestseller "Battlefield of the mind".  As she said, Jesus certainly did not die for us so we could be joyless and miserable.  He actually said in John 10:10 that He came so we could have life and ENJOY it.  Let’s take His promise and keep our joy in life ;)

A Woman’s Question

April 19th, 2008 by maureenchandra

Do you know you have asked for the costliest thing
Ever made by the Hand above?
A woman’s heart, and a woman’s life –
And a woman’s wonderful love.

Do you know you have asked for this priceless thing
As a child might ask for a toy?
Demanding what others have died to win,
With the reckless dash of a boy.

You have written my lessons of duty out,
Manlike, you have questioned me.
Now stand at the bars of my woman’s soul
Until I shall question thee.

You require your mutton shall always be hot,
Your sock and your shirt be whole;
I require your heart be true as God’s stars
And as pure as His heaven your soul.

You require a cook for your mutton and beef,
I require a far greater thing;
A seamstress you’re wanting for socks and shirts –
I look for a man and a king.

A king for the beautiful realm called Home,
And a man that his Maker, God,
Shall look upon as He did on the first,
And say: "It is very good."

I am fair and young, but the rose may fade
From this soft young cheek one day;
Will you love me then ‘mid the falling leaves,
As you did ‘mong the blossoms of May?

Is your heart an ocean so strong and true,
I may launch my all on its tide?
A loving woman finds heaven or hell
On the day she is made a bride.

I require all things that are grand and true,
All things that a man should be;
If you give this all, I would stake my life
To be all you demand of me.

If you cannot be this, a laundress and cook
You can hire and little to pay;
But a woman’s heart and a woman’s life
Are not to be won that way.

East To West

February 12th, 2008 by maureenchandra

Here I am Lord and I’m drowning

In your sea of forgetfulness
The chains of yesterday surround me
I yearn for peace and rest
I don’t want to end up where you found me
And it echoes in my mind
Keeps me awake tonight

I know you’ve cast my sins as far

As the East is from the West

And I stand before you now

As though I’ve never sinned but today

I feel like I’m just one mistake away

From you leaving me this way

Jesus can you show me

Just how far the East is from the West

Cause I can’t bear to see the man I’ve been

Come rising up in me again
In the arms of your mercy I find rest
Cause you know just how far the East is from the West

From one scared hand to the other

I start the day the war begins

Endless reminding of my sin

Time and time again

Your truth Is drowned out by the storm I’m in

Today I feel like I’m just one mistake away

From you leaving me this way

I know you’ve washed me white

Turned my darkness into light

I need your peace to get me through

To get me through this night

I can’t live by what I feel

But by the truth your word reveals

I’m not holding on to you

But your holding on to me

Your holding on to me

God Always Answers Prayer

February 4th, 2008 by maureenchandra

When the idea is not right, God says, "No"
No - when the idea is not the best

No - when the idea is absolutely wrong

No - when although it may help you, it could create  problems for someone else.

When the time is not right, God says, "Slow"

What a catastrophe it would be

If God answered every prayer at the snap of your fingers.

Do you know what would happen?

God would become your servant, not your master.

Remember: God’s delay is not God’s denial

God’s timing is perfect

Patience is what we need in prayer.

When you are not right, God says, "Grow"

The selfish person must grow in unselfishness

The cautious person must grow in courage

The timid person must grow in confidence

The dominating person must grow in sensitivity

The critical person must grow in tolerance

The negative person must grow in positive attitudes

The pleasure-seeking person must grow in compassion for suffering people

When everything is all right, God says, "Go"

Then miracles happen

A hopeless alcoholic is set free

A drug addict finds release

A doubter becomes a child in his belief

Diseased tissue responds to treatment, and healing begins

The door fo your dream suddenly swings open

And there stands God saying, "Go!"

HEARTPRINTS

February 4th, 2008 by maureenchandra

Whatever our hands touch -
We leave fingerprints!
On walls, on furniture
On doorknobs, dishes, books.
There’s no escape.
As we touch we leave our identity.

Oh God, wherever I go today
Help me leave hearprints!
Heartprints of compassion
Of understanding and love.
Heartprints of kindness
And genuine concern.

May my heart touch a lonely neighbor
Or a runaway daughter
Or an anxious mother
Or perhaps an aged grandfather.

Lord, send me out today
To leave heartprints.
And if someone should say: "I felt your touch,"
May that one sense YOUR LOVE
Touching through ME.

I’m Yours

January 10th, 2008 by maureenchandra

Helpppp….I’m hooked!!!!

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it

I tried to be chill but you’re so hot that I melted

I fell right through the cracks

and now I’m trying to get back

Before the cool done run out

I’ll be giving it my bestest

Nothing’s going to stop me but divine intervention

I reckon it’s again my turn to win some or learn some

I won’t hesitate no more, no more

It cannot wait, I’m yours

Well open up your mind and see like me

Open up your plans and damn you’re free

Look into your heart and you’ll find love love love

Listen to the music of the moment maybe sing with me

I love peaceful melody

It’s your God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love loved

So I won’t hesitate no more, no more

It cannot wait I’m sure

There’s no need to complicate

Our time is short

This is our fate, I’m yours

I’ve been spending way too long
checking my tongue in the mirror

And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer

My breath fogged up the glass

And so I drew a new face and laughed

I guess what i’ma saying is there ain’t no better reason

To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons

It’s what we aim to do

Our name is our virtue

I won’t hesitate no more, no more

It cannot wait I’m sure

There’s no need to complicate

Our time is short
this is our fate, I’m yours

Well no no, well open up your mind and see like me

Open up your plans and damn you’re free

Look into your heart and you’ll find the sky is yours

Listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
A lá one big family (2nd time: A lá happy family; 3rd time: A lá peaceful melody)

It’s your God-forsaken right to be loved love love love

I won’t hesitate no more, no more

It cannot wait, I’m sure

There’s no need to complicate

Our time is short
This is our fate, I’m yours

No please, don’t complicate

Our time is short

This is our fate, I’m yours

No please, don’t hesitate
no more, no more

It cannot wait
The sky is yours!

Favor of God

January 2nd, 2008 by maureenchandra

It’s funny how life works out sometimes.   Just when you’re about to give up, it decides to throw something good at you.  And all of the sudden it all seems just too good to be true.  Then, you’re contemplating, should I give it another try?  What if it fails again, as it always does?  What if it’s all just a dream and you’re going to wake up one day and get hit with reality?  You know you just don’t deserve to have it.  You know it’s too good to be yours.  Come on, wake up!!!

Yes, those are the thoughts that I have been struggling with for some time.  Luckily, a very good friend of mine recommended Joel Osteen’s book "Your Best Life Now".  While reading it, I soon realized that what I have been going through in the last couple of years has been the result of my negative, narrow-minded visions.  I have led a life thinking that I deserve nothing more than a bad, shallow life without love.  In the process of doing that, I have also hurt people around me who cared for me.  If you read this, wherever you are, I would like to apologize deeply for what I have done and I will continuously pray for your happiness.

Now, that being said, I am really thankful to be where I am now.  Where am I, you asked?  Well, for one thing, I know where and who I belong to now, and no one can tell me what I deserve or do not deserve, including myself.  I am God’s child and I am meant to have and do big things in this world.  I can finally picture all of God’s favor pouring down on me.  I am ready for my best life now.    Are you?

Microsot Campus

June 4th, 2006 by maureenchandra

Yes, it is literally a campus.  One of my collegue in Bellevue used to work for Microsoft in the Headquarter office in Redmont and he offered to show us around the office.  Well, what I expected was a really big building, but what I saw were lots of buildings, not so tall, along with landscape, parks, water fountain and even soccer field.  It is just like a campus with directions, street names, etc.  He even told us that the soccer field is where Bill Gate’s helicopter usually lands on.  And there are some pavements in which they printed each and every one of Microsoft’s products.  Isn’t it cool?  I’ll put some pictures that I took in the photo albums, in case you want to check it out.

If you ever go to Seattle, Washington, be sure to visit it.  It is not so far away from Seattle.  It’s in Redmont, by car is about 1/2 hour.

Home Sweet Home

June 4th, 2006 by maureenchandra

I’ve always loved travelling, I do.  But now I finally understand what "Home Sweet Home" really means.  It’s funny how when I was back home, I’ve always wished to be somewhere out there, doing lots and lots of travelling.  And here I am, half a world away from my home, wishing I was home.  I’ve been to several places, these past few months, not on vacation, altho sometimes it feels like it, but for a temporary work assignment.

It’s been awesome to learn so much from many different people trying to enrich oneself.  But man, don’t I miss the smell of Indonesian food, the humidity of the weather (at least we don’t have to put on lotion everyday), and most of all, I miss my cute little red Jazz.  And guess what, I even miss the traffic jam.  I’ve been walking to the office here for the past couple of weeks, sure, it’s healthy and everything, but I’d prefer driving.  I’ve never been a fan of walking, jogging or worse, running.  I only run if I’m chased by a dog.

So, the moral of the story I guess is to cherish the time you get to spend at home, coz you’ll never know :)

PS: I’m coming home soon…yayyyy ;)
